DW | Austria and Germany Wine Dinner

Austria and Germany

“Two nations separated by a common language” could easily apply to Austria and Germany, where wine is concerned at least. Riesling is a critically important variety for both countries, but the approach and results are worlds apart, highlighting just how fantastic a range of flavors and styles this chameleon of a grape can display. Though we could easily fill an entire evening with just Riesling wines, it would be criminal not to share the fascinating Grüner Veltliner (Austria’s National Grape) and the amazing range of refreshing reds being produced in both nations, now better than ever.

Our guest speaker for the evening will be Lewis Edwards from the Winebow Group. An Advanced-Level Sommelier with the Court of Master Sommeliers, Lewis has more than two decades of experience as an educator and fine wine manager and is an ideal guide to the notoriously challenging world of German-language wine laws and styles. As ever, Chef Brian Lombard and team have crafted the ideal menu to bring out the best in the wines from Austria and Germany.
