Classic for a Reason: Re-Discovering the Greatness of Bordeaux
The Bordeaux wine region extends for some 60 miles around the city of Bordeaux along three rivers – the Gironde, Garonne and Dordogne – of Europe’s largest estuary to create an ideal setting for winemaking: a temperate climate with a short winter and high levels of humidity courtesy of the nearby Atlantic Ocean. This is the home and origin of red wines made from a combination of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc and, in a way, Cabernet-based wines around the world all owe their inspiration to the great and age-worthy wines of Bordeaux. The landscape is varied and quite beautiful, with ancient castles and towers and wine traditions rooted in centuries past.
But for all the history, tradition and rarity of the very top châteaux, Bordeaux remains the worlds best source for affordable and food-friendly wines that can improve with cellaring. Join us at Foxcroft Dilworth as we explore some of the range and diversity of Bordeaux whites and reds with a custom-crafted 4-course dinner.
