GREENVILLE SC | Rioja Wine Dinner

Rioja Wine Dinner
Classic Rioja is one of the great triumphs of age-worthy wine, as much so as the wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy, yet it flies under the radar compared to its more well-known European peers. This landlocked, north-eastern Spanish region has been a famous destination for great wines for many hundreds of years but the modern style we know today came about with French influence in the late 1800’s. Spain tends to produce wine made from indigenous grapes and Rioja is no different, using Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Viura (Macabeo). While white and rosé wines are produced, the vibrant, oak-aged reds are the signature style. These wines are medium to full-bodied, with rich tannins and spice, having intense flavors of dark berries, plum, tobacco, and herbs.
Join us on a journey through one of the oldest wine regions in Spain and one of the truly unique wine styles of Europe. We’ll taste the 4 major styles and ages of Rioja wines (starting with white, then crianza, reserva and gran reserva. ) to paint a complete portrait of this esteemed and classic region. The dishes to accompany these wines is very much one-of-a-kind, custom-crafted to the flavors of Rioja and drawing inspiration from both Spain and the Americas.
