Spend a Day in Downtown Greenville, SC – A Local’s Guide to West End

Conde Nast Traveler recently named Greenville, SC one of the “Best Small Cities in the U.S.,” and if you’ve spent any amount of time here, it’s easy to see why. In fact, when people ask what we love about Greenville, it’s hard to decide where to start.

There are so many things to love about this city, and sometimes it feels like words don’t do it justice. There are always people out and about downtown and historic West End, exploring our awesome city. You could easily spend your entire day walking around, checking out the different local shops and boutiques, eating and drinking your way down Main Street, and enjoying our beautiful outdoor amenities, like Falls Park on the Reedy, home of the picturesque Liberty Bridge, and the Swamp Rabbit Trail. We recommend enjoying lunch at Mary’s Cottage at Falls Park or Gather GVL, one of Greenville’s newest outdoor food halls that has quickly become a popular gathering spot.

There’s just so much to see and do in Greenville, SC. Whether you’re here for a weekend trip, a day trip, a girls’ night out or a date night, you’ll have plenty of things to keep you busy. Located in the heart of downtown Greenville, the Peace Center is an amazing place to see a show. Rainer’s Cafe & Bar has live jazz music Thursday-Saturday. Downtown Alive takes place every Thursday from March-August, with live music on NOMA Square. And the TD Saturday Market offers up fresh, local produce and other local goods and products.

If you’re visiting during baseball season, attending a Greenville Drive game at Fluor Field at the West End is a must-do. The Drive is a Class-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, and the minor league ballpark is built to resemble Fenway Park, complete with its own Green Monster. The field is conveniently located within walking distance of Foxcroft Wine Co. so stop in and see us before or after the game.

If you haven’t been to Foxcroft Wine Co. before, we are a combination wine bar + restaurant + retail wine shop. We’re one of only a few wine bars in Greenville, and our food is on par with some of the best restaurants in town. While we are best-known for our extensive wine list, charcuterie boards and truffle fries, we also have a full dinner menu where everything is made fresh daily in our scratch kitchen. Don’t just stop in for a glass of wine and a snack – plan to stay for dinner, and be sure to order our Famous Doughnuts for dessert. If ice cream is more your speed, we recommend a casual walk over to Spill the Beans, which is just a few doors down from us – on the other side of Reedy Falls Park.

We are located in The West End of Greenville, which has everything you could want in a downtown experience: window shopping, art galleries, great food and drinks, and lots of little boutiques and small businesses to support. At Foxcroft, we have a covered patio, overlooking Falls Park, which makes outdoor dining possible almost year-round. We welcome dogs on our patio and they eat free on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, courtesy of our friends at Blueberry Frog, which is just across the street. They make delicious, organic frozen yogurt, so go check them out while you’re in the neighborhood.

Foxcroft is proud to be part of a thriving city like Greenville, that clearly deserves all of the accolades it receives for being a great place to live and visit. Come see us while you’re in town!
