Description

Matthews is a family owned and operated winery based in Woodinville, Washington. They take their inspiration from the great wine blending techniques of Bordeaux and from the exceptional fruit that Washington state is producing. Their wines tip their hat to old world traditions, while embracing the energy and innovation of this ascendant wine region. Since 1992, Matthews has crafted red blends from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec and Petit Verdot, and white wines exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

2020 Sauvignon Blanc
The 2020 Matthews Sauvignon Blanc was crafted using Sauvignon Blanc from select vineyards in Washington State, specifically the Horse Heaven Hills of the Columbia Valley. Farmed using sustainable practices, the fruit was machine-harvested in the early fall mornings of 2020. Upon arriving at the winery, the grapes were pressed and the juice was delivered into tank. It was then fermented and aged in 100% stainless steel tanks before being bottled and released.

2019 Blackboard Red Blend
The 2019 Matthews Cabernet Sauvignon comes from several small vineyard parcels within four AVAs: Columbia Valley, Red Mountain, Royal Slope, and Walla Walla Valley. Harvested by hand in the early fall mornings of 2019, it was hand-sorted and fermented in the winery using both concrete and stainless-steel tanks. The free-run wine was cellared in French oak for 21 months. Evaluated over 40 times by our winemaking team, 111 barrels were ultimately selected and bottled in August 2021.
