Peay Vineyards stands as a testament to first-generation viticulture, with husband and wife duo, Nick Peay and Vanessa Wong, as the cultivators and winemakers, while Nick’s brother, Andy Peay, spearheads sales and oversees the business. Notably, Vanessa Wong previously served as the winemaker at Peter Michael Winery. While they do supply select premium wineries with their fruit, the lion’s share is reserved for their own distinctive bottlings.
The Peay family proudly adheres to organic farming practices, maintaining certifications for environmentally-conscious, fish-friendly farming, and integrated pest management. Their dedication to vineyard well-being guides their holistic approach to both farming and winemaking. Moreover, they champion sustainability by employing bio-diesel at the vineyard and harnessing solar power at both the vineyard and winery, reaffirming their commitment to responsible practices throughout their operation.
“…the 2021 vintage made spectacular wines across the board due to a harmonious growing season, optimal vine age, and our vineyard’s overall robust health. But it made really spectacular Pinot noir. The nose of the inaugural West Sonoma Coast Pinot noir is seductive with floral, hippie aromas, and red fruits swirling above our signature, earthy, base note. There is refinement and balance with loads of flavor and depth but the wine is not over-burdened and sluggish due to excessive ripeness or alcohol. This is the expression of Pinot noir we hope to capture every year. It is what makes the West Sonoma Coast, and Peay Vineyards, such an interesting and unique grape-growing terroir. This wine does not taste like it could come from any other winegrowing region in the world. It is self-confidently Peay Pinot noir from the West Sonoma Coast and I am thrilled to show you what we can achieve out here.”

Medium to full-bodied, with great structure, it’s beautifully pure and persistent, with notes of fresh pine and wildflowers as well as a great finish. Drink it over the next 20 years.”

It scoots out of the glass with eager-to-please scents of raspberry coulis, pomegranate, and candied violets, followed by hints of Sichuan pepper and Provence herbs. The medium-bodied palate is elegant, refreshing, and intense, chock-full of energetic red berry flavors, finishing soft and savory.”
