| $129.99 | 12-BOTTLE CASE: ~Cru Beaujolais from a Traditional Domaine~

Description

Classic Cru Beaujolais at a Nouveau Price

The Brouilly Cru area is in northern-central Beaujolais. The lower slopes of Mont Brouilly and the surrounding countryside tend to produce relatively robust and full-bodied wines, entirely unlike the light, simplistic wines labeled every year as “Beaujolais Nouveau.” The appellation was officially delimited along with most of the rest of the Beaujolais crus in the 1930s. While the appellation applies only to red wines, the white grape varieties of Chardonnay, Aligoté and Melon de Bourgogne are allowed to make up 15 percent of the vineyard area. They are also permitted as a minor component of the blend in Brouilly wines.

HISTORY
Corcelles-en-Beaujolais, between Lyon and Mâcon, is a village at the middle of the Beaujolais. This is where the 27 hectares of the Domaine J. Boulon estate has been situated for 7 generations.

Tasting Notes: black raspberry and cranberry aromas, with violets and lavender; supple and smooth on the palate with persistent red pepper and cranberry throughout, surrounded by mild but present tannins for grip- needs a slight chill to really express itself ideally
