GV $120 | 2016 Château Lagrange Saint-Julien 3rd Growth Bordeaux

Saint-Julien is on the left bank of the Gironde Estuary in Bordeaux. This region tends to have red blends that are mainly Cabernet Sauvignon with a smaller percentage of Merlot and Petit Verdot. Château Lagrange Saint-Julien is a veritable demonstration of balance, this wine illustrates the perfect alchemy between the three main grape varieties.. Powerful and lively in its youth, a slow, serene evolution over time endows this wine with a delicate elegance.

“The 2016 Lagrange has a tightly knit, focused bouquet of intense blackberry, briar and cedar aromas. This is impressive, and it gains intensity with aeration. The medium-bodied palate delivers grainy tannin, a fine bead of acidity and a vivacious, spicy, almost peppery finish. One of the most powerful Lagrange that I have tasted. A Saint-Julien that is consistently underrated, this 2016 will give a great deal of pleasure over the next 30-plus years.” (1/2019)
