|||GV $18.99 | Conveyance Willamette Valley Pinot Gris

Description

In 2022, Willamette Valley winemakers faced the usual unpredictability of Mother Nature, presenting them with a series of challenges throughout the growing season. Following bud-break in mid-April, a sudden cold front descended, setting record-low temperatures and causing frost concerns, leaving doubts about the upcoming Fall harvest. May and June brought unexpected cool temperatures, intensifying worries about potential low yields or even complete crop loss.

However, a fortunate turn of events occurred from July through September, as surprisingly warm weather prevailed, helping to restore the growing season’s momentum. With minimal rainfall during this period, the fruit was granted additional weeks of hang time, which had been scarce in recent Oregon vintages. Even as October rolled in, the conditions remained ideal, further extending the fruit’s hang time, creating a rare and advantageous situation for winemakers in the region.

The fruit for this Pinot Gris was whole-cluster pressed immediately upon arrival at the cellar and the juice allowed to settle for 36 hours. The juice was then racked clean into stainless steel ferments and underwent fermentation for three weeks at medium to low temperatures of between 60°F and 66°F. Aged entirely on lees in stainless steel tanks before being filtered and bottled.

“Aromas of orange blossom, key lime, and spiced pear on the nose. The palate shows lively notes of sweet citrus, crisp apple, white pineapple, ginger, juniper, lemongrass, and coriander. Vibrant and balanced with an expressive finish.”
