|| | GV $99 | Robert Foley Griffin Magnum

Robert Foley has had a background that most can only dream about. Before starting his own label he was the founding winemaker for 15 years at Markham Vineyards and then another 15 years at Pride Mountain Vineyards. Foley is known for making big and bold reds and recently added a white to his portfolio, Chardonnay. His reputation for producing very expressive wines that finish gracefully continues to develop at his winery facility on Napa County’s Howell Mountain, where more than 1,500 barrels are housed in an extensive cave system for the production of Robert Foley wines.

“Like its namesake, this Griffin is a powerful combination of strengths. The blended characters of Petite Sirah, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Charbono and Syrah deliver rich raspberry flavors balanced with fresh acidity. Having just enough grip in the finish makes this a very approachable, versatile, food-friendly red wine. This year’s bottling offers a well-balanced blend of classic claret varieties (Merlot and Petit Verdot) and my favorite Rhone-rooted varieties of Syrah, Petite Sirah, and Charbono. This vintage blend is 30% Petite Sirah, 26% Merlot, 21% Petit Verdot, 14% Charbono, and 9% Syrah.”
