Composed 100% of Chardonnay grape variety, Chablis terroir takes its unique typicity from a soil called “Kimmeridgien″, made of layers of limestone and clay 240 million year-old and keeping in its layers ammonites and fossilized oysters (ostrea virgula) that give to it such a unique expression along with minerality and purity to the wines.
Grand Cru Les Clos is the most renowned of the 7 Chablis Grands Crus. It produces straight but yet generous and powerful wines. Its bouquet is mineral, which gives to the wine lot of elegance while the mouth expresses delicate notes of almond and pear. The finish is full and long-lasting.
“The 2018 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru comes from the domaine’s 3.2ha of 55-year-old vines, aged in tank on the fine lees for 18–20 months. It has an attractive beeswax, grapefruit and white peach bouquet that takes time to unfurl. The palate is well balanced, with a fine bead of acidity, bitter lemon mixing with orange peel and spicy notes toward the finish…it should give 10–12 years of drinking pleasure.”
