Nancy Irelan From Red Tail Ridge

On the opposite side of the country from California, Washington and Oregon, where the majority of U.S. wine is produced, New York State is enticing wine lovers with its cool-climate grapes and family-run wineries. As the fourth-largest wine-producing state in the country, with seven AVAs and several sub-AVAs, there’s a lot to explore in New York Wine Country. A few of the top AVAs include the Finger Lakes, Long Island, Champlain and Lake Erie.

Dr. Nancy Irelan is the co-owner and winemaker for Red Tail Ridge in the Finger Lakes AVA. She has had an impressive career consulting for some of the countries top vineyards as well as a PhD in grape genetics from UC-Davis. Nancy sees each of her wines as, “a tiny time capsule of typicity that reflects a moment in the life-history of our little property.”

We could not think of anyone better to walk us through New York wines than Nancy Irelan and are excited to have her join us for yet another excellent wine dinner at Foxcroft Southpark.
