South America Wines with David Faulkner

While you’ll find all the usual suspects (Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc) in South America, there are a handful of lesser known varieties that have taken on a uniquely South American identity. You might already be intimately familiar with Malbec, but others such as Torrontes and Semillon, are only now making a splash outside of the Southern Hemisphere. Chile produces peppery and earthy wines in a style very similar to Bordeaux while Argentina often offers wines with more of a soft and fruit forward profile. With other countries overshadowing Chile and Argentina, the wines produced offer a great value and should be on everyone’s list of options when considering what to pour for dinner.
